Rofhiwa (Shoni) Nevhulaudzi known as Shoni Right to Care in 2007 as Regional Pharmacy Manager. Her role is to coordinate pharmaceutical services within Right to Care, arrange the Pharmacists’ Assistants training, and provide technical assistance to Right to Care pharmacy staff at sites supported by the organisation.
Shoni qualified as a pharmacist in 1999 through the University of the North (now University of Limpopo, Turfloop Campus) and has obtained her M. Pharm in Pharmacy Practice (PU for CHE); B.Pharm (UNIN).
She completed her Masters degree in 2001 at the then Potchefstroom University (now University of North West). Shoni did her academic internship at Ernst Oppenheimer Hospital in Welkom (Mining Hospital) and then proceeded to Limpopo Province to do community service at Tshilidzini Hospital. This is where her career and interest in hospital pharmacy and public health began. She has worked in the public sector for five years (in Limpopo and the Free State). This gave her experience in pharmacy operations and training of pharmacists’ assistants. She then moved to Gauteng where she worked in the Retail Sector and Drug Utilisation Review (DUR) until she joined Right to Care.
Her accomplishments in Right to Care include the training of pharmacists’ assistants. Another accomplishment is working towards improving relations and communication between Right to Care staff and Department of Health (DoH) staff. Her departments will be piloting a dispensing program (Rx Solution) at Natalspruit hospital to ease the burden on pharmacy staff. The programme is offered by Management Sciences for Health (MSH) also known as Rational Pharmaceutical Management Plus (RPM Plus).
