Leratong Hospital Kgothalang Clinic, a CCMT site, has been supported by Right to Care since October 2006. In the last five months, the clinic has 3280 patients in care and 2720 on treatment, an outstanding achievement in such a short time. This influx of patients has increased the need for healthcare staff. Right to Care increased its human resources support by seconding two doctors, a pharmacist and pharmacist assistant, seven counsellors, a data manager and six data capturers. Space constraints led to the purchase of a five-roomed Wendy house for the counsellors. The integration of TB and HIV has also been an important factor for this clinic, with the appointment of two TB counsellors funded by Right to Care and seconded to the TB focal point. Other treatment sites supported in Gauteng include the OR Tambo Clinic in Diepsloot. It was recently granted accreditation by government. It has 55 patients in care (none as yet on treatment). Discoverers Ekhaya Lethu CCMT has 770 patients in care with 770 on antiretroviral treatment. On the East Rand, Natalspruit Faranani CCMT now has over 3000 patients on treatment. Kopanong Hospital’s iThemba Lethu CCMT is in Vereeniging and falls in the Sedibeng district. The clinic serves the population of Sebokeng, Sharpeville, Meyerton, and Midvale, catering for adult and paediatric patients. The clinic has 2080 patients, in care with 1610 on treatment. |
