Dr Ali Bacher

Dr Ali Bacher was the captain of the national cricket team in 1970 and has spent more than 30 years involved in the business and promotion of sport. He was the Chief Executive of the International Cricket
Council’s World Cup, held in South Africa in 2003.

Dr Bacher’s achievements have been recognised with cricket-related awards both for playing and for administration along with numerous other awards, including two honorary doctorates from Rhodes and Wits Universities respectively, and the Da Vinci Laureate Award for Social Architecture.
