Right to Care is governed by a board of directors, of whom two-thirds are non-executive. The organisation complies with King III standards of corporate governance and consistently achieves unqualified audits from Deloitte & Touche.
Ms. Nosipho — Chairperson of the Board, Non-Executive Director
Qualifications: BComm (Wits)
Nosipho Simelane is a highly accomplished business executive with extensive experience leading technology, sales and operations teams across Africa. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand and has completed executive leadership programmes through Wits Business School and GIBS. Her career spans senior leadership roles at leading multinational organisations including Crayon, Oracle, IBM, Hewlett Packard and Microsoft, where she has consistently driven business growth, operational excellence and strategic transformation.
With expertise in business development, governance, customer engagement and technology solutions, Nosipho has successfully managed large multi-country teams and multimillion-rand portfolios throughout the African continent. She currently serves as Chairperson of Right to Care and has held several governance and advisory roles in the non-profit sector. Recognised for her strong commercial acumen and leadership, she has led major business deals, cloud optimisation initiatives and digital transformation projects while maintaining a strong focus on innovation, governance and sustainable growth.
Mr. Shauket Fakie — Chair of Audit, Risk & IT Governance Committee, Non-Executive Director
Qualifications: CA
Shauket Fakie is a highly respected Chartered Accountant and governance leader with more than five decades of experience in auditing, risk management, consulting and public sector accountability. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours degree from the University of South Africa and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Throughout his distinguished career, he has held several high-profile leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, earning recognition for his expertise in corporate governance, auditing standards and strategic oversight.
Mr Fakie served as Auditor-General of South Africa from 1999 to 2006, where he was responsible for auditing and reporting on the financial management of national, provincial and local government institutions. He also chaired the United Nations Panel of External Auditors and played a significant role in strengthening auditing standards and governance across Africa. Following his tenure in public office, he joined MTN Group as Group Executive for Business Risk Management, leading governance, internal audit and risk management across operations in Africa and the Middle East. He currently serves on several corporate and non-profit boards, contributing his extensive governance and financial oversight expertise.
Dr Victor Litlhakanyane — Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications: MBChB, MMed, MBA and numerous postgraduate qualifications in health from institutions in South Africa and internationally
Dr Victor Litlhakanyane is a highly respected Radiation Oncologist and healthcare executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across the public and private health sectors in South Africa and the broader African region. He holds an MBChB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, a Master of Medicine in Clinical Oncology from the University of the Free State, and an MBA in Healthcare Management. Throughout his career, he has combined deep clinical expertise with strategic leadership, serving in senior academic, government and corporate roles while also contributing to national and international healthcare conferences and institutions.
Dr Litlhakanyane has held several influential executive positions, including Superintendent General and Head of the Free State Department of Health, Executive Director and COO at Netcare, Managing Director of Bigen Africa Health, and CEO of Right to Care NPC. He has overseen large-scale healthcare operations, public-private partnerships, health system transformation and governance initiatives across Southern Africa. He currently serves in a number of leadership and board roles, including Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Life Healthcare Group Holdings Limited and Chairman of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa Foundation NPC.
Ms. Lerato Okeyo — Chair of Social & Ethics Committee, Non-Executive Director
Lerato Yvonne Okeyo is an experienced business leader and Non-Executive Director with a strong background in corporate governance, strategy, finance and marketing. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the National University of Lesotho and an MBA from the University of the Witwatersrand. Over the course of her career, she has occupied numerous executive and board-level leadership positions across a range of industries, bringing extensive strategic and operational insight to the organisations she serves.
In addition to her corporate leadership experience, Lerato has a strong commitment to social entrepreneurship and community development. She has dedicated significant time to non-profit initiatives focused on improving access to quality education for underserved communities. Alongside her governance and advisory work, she is also an entrepreneur operating within the construction sector, combining business leadership with a passion for sustainable social impact.
Prof. Flavia Senkubuge — Chair of Health Committee, Non-Executive Director
Professor Flavia Senkubuge is the Dean of the Faculty of Health at the University of Pretoria and a leading figure in public health leadership and academic medicine in Africa. A qualified medical doctor and Specialist in Public Health Medicine, she holds an MBChB, MMed in Public Health, a PhD in Public Health and an MBA from the Edinburgh Business School in the United Kingdom. She currently serves as the 20th President of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA), becoming the first black woman to hold this prestigious position.
Professor Senkubuge has built an influential career spanning academia, global health governance and research leadership. She has previously served as Deputy Dean for Stakeholder Relations and Interim Deputy Vice Chancellor for Student Life at the University of Pretoria. Internationally, she chairs the WHO Afro-region African Advisory Council on Research and Development and leads Women in Global Health South Africa. Recognised as one of South Africa’s 50 Powerful Women and among Harvard Public Health’s standout voices in African public health, she is widely respected for advancing health workforce development, research-driven policy and inclusive health leadership across the continent.
Dr Eula Mothibi — RTC Programs Director, Executive Director
Dr Eula Mothibi-Wagbafor is a seasoned medical executive, Specialist Physician and Public Health Specialist with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare systems, clinical medicine and public health leadership across Africa. She holds an MD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, specialist qualifications in Internal Medicine and HIV Management, as well as further qualifications in Public Management and Health Services Administration. Known for her strategic leadership, people-centred approach and ability to lead complex multicultural teams, she has successfully managed healthcare operations, large-scale donor-funded programmes and organisational transformation initiatives across multiple African countries.
Currently serving as Executive Director of the Right to Care Group and Managing Director of RTC International, Dr Mothibi-Wagbafor oversees programmes and partnerships across Southern and West Africa. Her career includes leadership roles at Kheth’Impilo AIDS Free Living, Absolute Return for Kids, provincial health departments and major academic hospitals. She has played a key role in securing significant international funding, strengthening health systems, scaling HIV and pandemic-response programmes, and driving innovation in healthcare delivery. Widely respected for her resilience, strategic thinking and mentorship, she is recognised as a transformative leader in African public health.
Ms. Nonhlanhla Nyewula — Chief Financial Officer, Executive Director.
Qualifications: BSc (UKZN), BComm Hons (UKZN), CA (SA), Mining Tax Certificate (UNISA), Certified Director (IoDSA)
Nonhlanhla Nyewula is an accomplished Chartered Accountant and finance executive with extensive experience across healthcare, mining, technology and corporate sectors. She holds a BCompt degree from UNISA, a BCom Honours degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a member of SAICA and the Institute of Directors South Africa. Known for her strong business acumen and strategic financial leadership, she specialises in financial management, governance, risk assurance, capital raising and organisational transformation.
She currently serves as Group Finance Director at Right to Care, where she provides strategic oversight across finance, risk, HR, IT and governance functions. Prior to this, she held senior executive roles including CFO at Kalagadi Manganese and leadership positions at IBM, Deloitte and Unilever. Throughout her career, Nonhlanhla has successfully led large-scale funding negotiations, governance restructures, enterprise risk frameworks and operational transformation initiatives. She is widely respected for her ability to combine strategic leadership with strong financial and operational discipline in complex organisational environments.
